A fine victory came for Thorley just when they needed a win, Thorley won the toss and bowled first, Matching started well, 45-0 after 10 overs. Steve Cruwys (8-2-32-2) removed both openers in quick succession as Matching moved on to 47-2. At drinks Thorley were about to make there first bowling change, the score was at 95-2 and wickets were needed. Two fresh bowlers came on and put Thorley in command. Mike Coggin (10-2-25-4) and Ben Dellow (10-1-30-1) kept the run rate down and also got wickets which was important. 10 overs were left and that was where Thorley stumbled, 88 runs came in the last 10 overs and gave Matching a good recovery score of 216-9 from there 45 overs. After tea the Thorley openers John Sellwood (15) and Jamie Blackwell (53) got off to a great start making the score 66-0 after 14 overs. Thorley bowled first and bowled well, they used up all of there 45 overs and restricted Matching to 202-9 from 45 overs, a good opening spell from Craig Dellow (10-1-30-0) kept the run rate down. Early wickets did fall, Stuart Osbourne (9-1-53-3) clamed 2 early wickets but it was the partnership of Franks and Udal that gave Matching a respectful total of 202. Mark Dellow (10-2-28-3) helped the Thorley bowlers with a fine spell of medium pace bowling. When the batting came Thorley didn’t get of to the bast of starts losing Dave Singh and Andy Cork early on for single figures scores. But a partnership of 79 between Wes Eldred (69) and Mickey Dellow (29) gave Thorley some hope of a result. When the partnership ended more wickets bagan to fall with Aitken, Waters, A.Dellow, M.Dellow and Carter gettin scores under 5 and Thorley were eventually bowled out for 157, a good knock from Stuart Osbourne (31) at the end gave Thorley a extra batting point but it was Matching who claimed a 45 run victory over Thorley.
